For their lead single, Babbletron enlists a pair of underground heavies on competing tracks. On Space Tech Banana Clip, MF Doom goes throttle up, blending horn stabs and “rat-ta-tat” drum hits with Jaymanila and Calm-Pete’s energetic lyrics. Sadly, the band’s banal sci-fi citations make this potential dream collaboration as necessary as, The Black Hole. Showing that they’re not above getting gritty, the trio procures the equally spaced out scientist, El-P for All The Way Hype. A minimalist beat matches the bands subdued lyrics. The resulting combination earns this banger clear favored status. Adding credence are the wordsmiths’ set-to-kill rhymes on And One and What. Best of all, the comrades ride high on a fading snare set to self-destruct.
