Even as hip-hop mourns the loss of ODB, there are others who already are angling to profit from his death. Peep the scorecard:
Winner ODB's baby mothers- there's reportedly 13 children from these women who all want a piece of his estate, I'm sure
Loser ODB's wife- she claims her 3 children are his only heirs
Winner Elektra- his old label has the rights to his catalogue, plus a greatest hits collection out now
Loser Rocafella- the little music he recorded for them sounded horrible
Winner Pras and Mariah Carey- expect to hear Ghetto Superstar and Fantasy a lot over the coming weeks
Loser Wu-Tang Clan- he wasn't on the last album, he won't be on the next, and he was barely on the second
Unfortunately, it seems that those who loved ODB the most will receive the least from his passing.
(See Clyde? I can break down the business side of hip-hop too.)
You're the one breaking it down, Hashim. I'm just linking to it.

Dirty is a classic hip-hop artist. Regardless of what he had gone through his career. He will be remembered and his old album sales will increase.

On the day after he died, the NY Post ran a story with the headline "Dead 'Dirty Bastard'". You can find it here: http://www.nypost.com/news/regionalnews/34095.htm
I won't begin to describe my disgust at the treatment by the media, and in particular the NY Post.

Interesting. I actually wrote to FOX about a report on ODB that I didn't appreciate.
Today while watching Good Day Live, I didn't appreciate the fact that you referred to Ol' Dirty Bastard as a ex-convict / ex-felon first before mentioning that he was a founding member of the Wu-Tang Clan.
I am writing to find out how you will handle other celebrities that have served time? The next time you do a story on Martha Stewart will you refer to her as an ex-convict? Probably not.
And in about 4 hours I got a response...
Thank you for your recent email regarding coverage on ODB following his death. The station did not mean to offend anyone, but merely was trying to do the best it could to get the information out as quickly as possible. Thanks again for writing to us and bringing this issue to our attention.
...
Seriously, we need to find one common cause to stand up for an flood them with complaints. 'Dead Dirty Bastard' is a really f'ed up title. To sensationalize is one thing but to be straight up disrespectful is another.
