Last year's predictions- how'd I do?
Predictions for 2004 scorecard
1. More Hip-hop Concerts and Tours- I think I nailed this one. There were more high profile tours, and there seemed to be more concerts in general, at least in the New York area.
2. The "Regular Dude" is Born or The "Backpacker" Returns- Kanye's non-gangsta yet non-nerd persona was critically acclaimed but not really imitated this year. I thought Common was gonna drop and spark the revolution, but no dice. Maybe this year.
3. The Mixtape Will Rule- This was an easy prediction to make. There are dozens of mixtape sites that came on the web this year, and my local 2-for-5 spot gets so many that they have a 3 week turnaround on what they keep in stock. Mixtapes were so big last year, it became a non story. And music wise some artists released their best stuff exclusively on mixtapes (Ghostface and Jadakiss being the best examples.
Dag, those predictions were a cop out. I need to get more adventurous this year.
Did you see the Best Week Ever year end special, where "some dude" was voted Man of the Year?
