Remember Hip Hop

I could remember when I was in grade school. Waking up each morning eating breakfast in the kitchen to the sounds for Slick Rick and Doug E Fresh blasting from the boom box my moms had on top of the refrigerator. I can recall walking to school with friends singing "Rock The Bells" to the top of our lungs. Those were the days. I remember how black I felt going to Scott High School in Toledo,Ohio riding the bus with Public Enemy play in my headphones so loud the everyone one the back of the bus was bobbing their heads to the same songs I was listening to. Back then the only beef was with Ice Cube and the remaining members of NWA. They keep in on wax and no one got hurt. Back then a MC was measured on his lyrical content and not be how many times he got shot or who he slapped in the face back on the block.

Today I try to listen to as much hip hop as possible and see that showmanship has been replaced with a MCs money wad and how big his rims are on his whip. Now don't get me wrong their are still some MCs that have the lyrics to hold their own but with so much beef going around its like we're watching a extended version of 8 Mile. I seems that everyone has beef with everyone else for some reason or another we as fans are being forced to listen to the endless rebuttals made by MCs. One example is my boy eminem. Lyrical I thing that the kid is a genius and think that he has the talent to be one of the greatest MCs of all time (But not better than tupac R.I.P) but his genius to me has been watered down with all of the diss tracks he put on his latest album. I think personally that someone of his talent shouldn't even waste their time dissin people who can't rhyme with him word for word. We all know the Ja Rule can't rap and keeps making pop music and Benzeno who is and has been a driving force in hip hop can't rap himself a birthday present so why waste the time. We as fans deserve to hear song that we all can feel. we deserve to hear songs the will remind us of the summer or the barbecue we went to . We deserve a better quality of music! While it does take a lot of skill to freestyle, it takes more skill to write a song that will be remembered.

If things keep going the way that they are someone else is going to get killed and the hip hop world is going to be in shock yet again. If you got beef have a record sales or a freestyle contest. Whoever wins gets bragging rights over the other. we need to get the hip hop community together to make some good music so that my two daughters will remember hip hop as I do.

Yeah, I hear yah. I love eminem. He is brillant! Gifted. I think he's wasting energy dissin. He should do a diddy about dissin the dissin. I hope no one else gets killed too. What a waste all the fightin is. Take hip hop to its next level. Hip hop has alot to say. Lets here about change, self impowerment, internal truth. Gettin real. All the dissin is about internal fear. Living in fear is confining and leads to narrow mindedness. I know I lived in fear for a good part of my life. I hope eminem is doing better. He has his demons like the rest of us. I just watched and listened to EMs latest release. He's so intense. He knows how to reach into my heart and get its attention. I can relate to his music. He wants to be HEARD! His honesty about his feelings is remarkable in a world that is emotionally shutdown. EM is a beautiful soul. I Love him unconditionally.
