Hip-hop Violence discussed on MSNBC
Today I was on MSNBC's new show, Connected Coast to Coast talking about the 50 Cent shootings and violence in hip-hop in general. Apparently, Toure was busy and Jimi is too old, so they contacted me to find out if any hip-hop bloggers have TV experience and knowledge of the topic. TV experience? I watch TV all the time, so I suggested myself.
The show is interesting in the way it has embraced blogging. For instance, I was found through this blog and both the hosts have their own blog (peep their post about hip-hop violence). Our little space is growing up. Cool.
Television thrives on sound bites, which I knew beforehand but wasn't ready for. Unfortunately, the dude from BET who I was paired with is more TV savvy than I am, and kept cutting me off to get his point across. Then, right when I was about to blast the media (including his company) for their role is esculating and profiting from dangerous feuds in hip-hop, the hosts moved on to another segment!
It's all good though. I finish what I wanted to say on my other blog (ah, the power of instant media).
In related news, Jay Smooth posted the audio of the interview we did with Jeff Chang. Enjoy.
i saw the program and thought you did pretty well. i know that's an easy thing to do if your new at it. but it was nice to see good voices representing.

I work at a private television production facility, and broadcast Hashim this afternoon on MSNBC. So, obviously I was able to witness first hand what he was trying to accomplish, and how his attempt became futile. Nevertheless, opportunities arise out of exposure, and I wanted to offer a compliment on your performance..
