Comments

Sef Khama

The beat is produced by Devo, he has a few production credits on John Legends Get Lifted album.Plus is Kanyes' cousin.

Hashim

Yeah, the beat is cool, but the flow and lyrics are what really impressed me about this one.

Sun

He is sh*ting on everybody right now. He's putting the best quality of REAL hip hop out now lyrics, production the whole nine yards. His freshness coming off a year like last year let's you know he ain't playing.

ProphecY

True, the lyrics got at me too. He can really spit. I just dont like the woman in the beginning sayin "Diamonds are forever!" The beat is decent tho... The beat sounds like something out of a fairy tale lol...

Maroussia

CAN Y'ALL TELL ME WHERE I CAN FIND THE LYRICS OF THAT SONG!! PLZ!! IF YOU HAVE IT ON YOUR COMPUTER SEND IT TO ME AT MAROU3_@HOTMAIL.COM

charliedigital

Lyrically, the song is too ill. Way too ill to be written solely by Kanye. Maybe XXL Common gave him some assistance. Not hating, I love Kanye, but he has used writing assistance in the past.

roy

how can i put this on a cd? email me @ pavila9498@msn.com

M Ceezy

Interesting thing about the production-side of this song is that the "diamonds are forever" sample is a sample in itself--taken from the remix of the Shirley Bassey original.

Q

this track is sick- this is what hip hop needs- no more hat music its time to feel good and show something different

J-Mamma

where can i get a listen to diamonds

ProphecY

question for the informed... i just picked up an album called Freshmen Adjustment featuring all new songs by Kanye - but no 'Diamonds'. is Diamonds the new single? is this FA his new album? somebody holla with the info...

Omar de Fati

Dayum. Whew. And holy shit. This song is hot.

theillest

i dont know what yall r talking about. The beat is niceee but the lyrics are lameeee.Alright Kanye your the savior, noone thought you could rap, bla bla. I think his lyrics r getting really tired, i'd like him to do some storytelling or something rather than just talk about how nice he is. Step your game up!

KungFuChicken!

He never said anything about the fact that people thought he couldn't rap. And this is just a single stupid. The album has to come out first boi. Nice track, insane beat.

Wei Wang

his spit is is sick, nothing else... the track is just as good, if not better. it gets me fucken pumped, and i dont think he had assistance, and i do like the sample, "diamonds are forever" thats what Kanye is about, his samples, so if you dont like that, then which kanye beats do you like?

nubie

da track is sick...It did take a while 2 grow on me. energyjamz on I tunes (under Radio) plays it nuff. His lyrics r kinda wack but, whats dat 4eva 4eva 4eva nonsense about? the hock from shirely bassy makes da tune sound nuff bashy, he gets ratings in my books, but I wounder wot it would have turned out like if jigga spat over it?

stevebelieveone

The track is hot. JayZ rips it on the remix. If you haven't peeped the remix, you need to soon

stampeder

hov rips anything. pause!!! diamonds and the corner are str8 tunes that u could listen 2 10 years from now and still feel. smell me.

them ROC boys SAS have ripped up a remix 2 the diamonds joint its real hot. westwood b keepin that sh!t on rotation. go 2 www.westwood.com. HOLLA!!!!!!!!!

chris

The original is much better then the remix. Jay's verse is good, but kanye's just doesnt quite sound right on the remix(it sounded good when he acapella-ed it on 106 & Park). Both verses on the original are insane. Hopefully this is just a preview of Late Registration (his next LP) becuase although I loved the college dropout im hoping that his next lp will be a little harder, like this song. Has anyone heard if the Remix is going to be on Late Registration?

Diamondz R 4Ever

Man, Kanye is Killing All the Modafucken Haters. What U talking about Kanye's Flow is getting Tired? This is Just the Beggining Of the Legacy. Kanye Is About To Do It starting 2005 when He drops THe Late Registration Which is Gonna be the album of The Year if not of the century. He will defetnely kill The Massacre, The Documentary and all that shit That G-G-G uNot! is Droping. Kanye Props on this Single. This is why Kanye Keeps on killing haters on the lyrical shit. Peace

Str8 Thug From Hanham

Kanye is shit

shina

the songs aight... its better then alot of stuff out right now but its just aight. Kanye is a beast, i know he can do even better. Everyones saying the songs real hot and everything but does anyone really understand it and know the meaning. i dont really so i dont toatally vibe with it. I know how its suppose to be about the diamonds etc. in Siera Lione (sp???) or w/e but hes lyrics dont play on that or elaborate on it. Thats just my take on it all.

shitin on everythang

Kanye has done better. The Lyrics are over and done with. It's not like some of the prophethic shit that Jay has ever dropped into the sceen. Some people listen to hip-hop and think that if it sounds good and if it flows that it's the shit. there are alot of rappers out here who really can't rap. I'm not saying that kanye can't, but this was a shitty song. So why is everyone on his dick? Do you even know what he's talking about? I think that the track is alright, but it ain't shit to rave and rant over. The video has the feel of some of the classic TMC movies and I guess that he could get the humanitarian award for trying to aware people about a conflict that claimed millions of lives and that happened over a decade ago. The video was about the cilil war in Sierre Leone and East Africa over the diamond the illigitimate diamond trade, but which one of you can say that this track contributed to the civil war that ended in 2000? It's 2005! So in the end what did he do....he just made a hot track... most of these newcomers into the hip-hop world don't really feal hip-hop, hip hop isn't just a flow or a ryhthm or ryhme. It's not a good track, or a great, it's what really relates to life. I stil;l; like Kayne, just not this song. I'm not gonna act like a groupie just b/c I like Kanye and say that this song is the shit b/c it isn't.

Like TI said "Don't be a groupie...keep it movin"

Bottom line

This song is not the best of his potential...

this song is bullshit

Diamonds are forever
They won’t leave in the night
Have no fear that they might
Desert me

Diamonds are forever (forever, forever)
Throw your diamonds in the sky if you feel the vibe
Diamonds are forever (forever, forever, forever)
The Roc is still alive every time I rhyme.
Forever ever? Forever ever? Ever, ever? Ever, ever? Ever, ever? Ever, ever?……

Close your eyes and imagine, feel the magic
Vegas on acid,
Seen through these St. Laurent glasses
And I’ve realized that I’ve arrived, cuz
It take more than a magazine to kill my Vibe does
These writers don’t rhyme, so sort of
I thank ‘em
That mean I forgot better @#%$ than u ever thought up
Damn, is he really that caught up?
I ask if you talkin’ bout glasses, do my name get brought up?
I remember I couldn’t afford a Ford Escort, or even a 4 track recorder
so its only right that I let the top drop on a drop-top Porsche
- its for yourself that’s important
If a stripper named Porscha and u get tips from many men
Then your fat friend her nickname is minivan
Excuse me,
That’s just the Henny, man, I smoke, I drink, I’m supposed to stop I cant because

Diamonds are forever (forever, forever)
Throw your diamonds in the sky if you feel the vibe
Diamonds are forever (forever, forever, forever)
The Roc is still alive every time I rhyme.
Forever ever? Forever ever? Ever, ever? Ever, ever? Ever, ever? Ever, ever?……

I was sick about awards
Couldn’t nobody cure me
Only playa that got robbed but kept all his jewelry
Alicia Keys tried to talk some sense to them
30 minutes later seems there’s no convincing them
What more can you ask for?
The international awards? nah
Who complains about when he is old?
And throw a tantrum like he’s 3 years old
You gotta love it though somebody still speaks from his soul
And wouldn’t change by the change, or the game, or the fame, when he came, in the game, he made his own name
Now all I need is y’all to pronounce my name
Its Kanye - But some of my plaques - they still say Kane
Got family and a deacon, folk from Motown
Back in the Chi - them folks ain’t from Motown
Life movin’ too fast I need to slow down
Girl ain’t give me no ass, ya need to go down
Diamonds are forever (forever, forever)
My father Ben said I need Jesus
So he took me to church and let the water wash over my season
Diamonds are forever (forever, forever)
The preacher said we need leaders
Right then my body got still like a paraplegic

You know who you can call you gotta best believe it
The Roc stand tall and you would never believe it
Take your diamonds and throw ‘em up like you bulimic
Yea the beat cold but the flow is anemic

After debris settles and the dust get swept off
Big K pick up where young Hov left off
Right when magazines wrote Kanye West off
I dropped my new @#%$ sound like the best of
A&R's lookin’ like “pssh we messed up”
Grammy night, damn right, we got dressed up
Bottle after bottle till we got messed up
In the studio, where really though, yea he next up
People askin’ me if I’m gon’ give my chain back
That’ll be the day I give the game back
You know the next question dog “Yo, where Dame at?”
This track the Indian dance to bring our reign back
“What’s up with you and Jay, man, are y’all ok man?”
They pray for the death of our dynasty like Amen
R-r-r-right here stands a-man
With the power to make a diamond with his bare hands…

Diamonds are forever (forever, forever)
Throw your diamonds in the sky if you feel the vibe
Diamonds are forever (forever, forever, forever)
The Roc is still alive every time I rhyme.
Forever ever? Forever ever? Ever, ever? Ever, ever? Ever, ever? Ever, ever?……

Diamonds are forever (forever, forever)
Diamonds are forever (forever, forever, forever

Yo, no matter what any of yall say bout kanye's song i gots to give him props on that song.At least he was trying to shed some light on what happened in Sierra Leone. I admit I might just be taking up for him on this song because my fam is Sierra Leonean but dont get mad at me because, I JUST HAPPY THAT someone in hip hop is acknowledging Sierra Leone.

Senacle

Ok. I read the lyrics, read the comments. Exactlyhow is Kanye shedding light on what's happening in Sierra Leone? Did I miss something? How is his rap, or one or two lines within it, shedding some light on a travesty? Give me a break. Kanye is cool. Makes good beats. But he's an elementary lyricist at best.

Emmanuel

Kanye west is one of the top, and a great inspiration to hip-hop to real hip-hop, nan that bull st*# , the beat was taken from James bond, a movie that came out in the 1970's. He added and made stronger the bass and background but everything else is the same if anybody didn't know that.

bbrolic

First of all that lyric sheet is wrong? Those aren't the corect lyrics. Second of all with songs like "Candy Shop", "The Whisper song", and "I'm a Hustla" dominating the airwaves its amazing that any rapper would talk about anything other than the four devils of hip hop (Guns, drugs, jewlery, hoes). When is he last time we heard a rapper talk about the oppression of capitalism and make it sound melodic and danceable. I'm not riding Kanye but the kid is gifted. I could never play Common (before Kanye), The Coup, or even Dead Prez on my block in Bedsty and the 15-17 year-old gang dudes not walk away. He's given these younger kids information that they would literally get nowhere else. Yall better appreciate him now cause ahen he's gone there might not be another popular concious mc that the youth respect and understand for a while.

diva

eminem is the answer bbrolic. yes he raps about sex, drugs and ther est but he alos raps about his lifes struggles eg in mockingbird which is dedicated to his daughter and neice and anoter of his songs im not sure of the name, deals only with politics and was written when elections were gong on. so i gotta give him credit on that

It's me...

This is my opinion: I don't understand how people can be so obsessed with people. Meaning... nobody ever talks about God, life or morals the way they do celebrities. Kanye West and his song Diamonds from Sierra Leone is a not a representation of his self. It's to make him money, make people think he's a conscious rapper. First, he raps about how the diamonds are conflict but he still sports the conflict diamonds he speak about. Second, this is Not his idea people. He said his self that the whole concept of this song came from Q-tip and Mark Romanek. Third, if you REALLY listen to the lyrics they don't make sense. The flow is cut through and not complete. For instance: What the f$%k is the verse about "Then your friend, her nickname is minivan." Where did that come from? Lyrically Kanye is NOT good. He says things just to rhyme. Now Jay-Z... he has a steady flow. You can listen to his songs and have a clear understanding the whole way through. Don't get me wrong I'm not a hater - I just don't cater. Everybody wants to be in a position of prestige and power, but some people don't know how to be humble. Just because entertainers have money, go alot of places and are forever on t.v. don't mean they're blessed. The devil grants wishes too. And anybody that craves attention like Kanye West does has never had anything their whole life. The hip-hip, or lack thereof, community needs to get it together. This is not what Curtis Blow and other rappers of the old school took redicule and discrimination for. And I ask you fellow hip-hop dickriders how can you follow someone who doesn't have a message? Are you yourself a big ball of contradiction and foolery? Everybody wants to follow a fairy tale, because that mess these rappers these days speak of is not reality. Why don't these rappers with all this money buy production companies or land away from the so-called "man" so that we as black people can have something of our own. None of this shit belongs to us...none of it. Think about it people.

hiphop

OK peep game, I’ve been reading ya'lls postings and what not and a lot of ya'll got good thangs to say. But others mayne... ya'll lost track of what hip hop really is, and what kanye is trying to restore. Kanye never had to sell drugs to live his life so he's speaking to a generation of kids that may not have felt "gangsta rap" before. He's bringing a different approach and beat style. And if you listen to the remix kanye is not wearing diamonds anymore unless he knows there conflict free. And its funny reading that none of this "stuff" belongs to us black people, America would not have been built if wasn’t for us black people...look at the hip hop market all black owned, we have clothing lines, shoe deals, we dominate the sports, we have Oscar winners, and we have our music EVERYTHING is ours. to the so called "hip-hop dickriders" comment??! are you kidding hip hop is the voice of our black people weather its speaking about our struggles our triumphs. hip hop is our generations civil rights, we fought long and hard and we are at the top looking down. we may not be buying land but do you know we have foundations for our black youth to stay of the streets so they can live a better life, t.i builds houses for our people. Q-tip may have spanned the idea yet he didn’t have balls to present it. regardless of what the song is about, kanye is shedding light that our people are still getting murder today in the 20th century. anyone who is able to rise up from a gang invested, or drug selling, or college dropout, back round and be able to share there story-shoot that is a fairy tale and i for one believe it-better that then poor sleeping beauty. kanye is not a nas, a 2pac, or biggie. But yet were all talking about him now.. RIGHT?

Str8frmjozi

Yo Senacle, I couldnt agree with you more! What the hell does the song have to do with Sierra Leone???? Late Registration is some wack shit from Kanye! Giv me College dropout anyday!
