Every now and then i like to take a break from hardcore rap and listen to some R&B. My favorite R&B album of last year (and most of this year) was John Legend Get Lifted but i might have a new one. I don't know how many people ever heard of Trey Songz but he's a new R&B cat on the scene. And i was listen to hot 97 morning show w/ ms. jones and they was bigging him up like he's dat dude right now so... imma check his album out and see how it is... i'll let all you hip hop dudes dat need a break from rap know how it is when i hear it... reyshizz in and out...
Me too. As I'm getting older I have to step away from rap to get my grown and sexy on.
John Legend has grown on me. I didn't like dude at first. And Trey Songz is cool too, but it's too early to tell if he's just a one hit wonder.

They don't play Trey Songz out here in the West, but from what I've heard he's pretty god. "Only you feat. Jay-Z" is on my playlist. He has time to blow up. Dude is young.
Remember back in the day, when R&B reigned supreme? When they actually played R&B during the daytime and didn't need a Neptunes beat to break through to the mainstream? I miss those days.

Lot of buzz on Trey Songz - he was at that Ronson/Q-tip party in NYC last week. I have a few of the 12"s that have come out so far but haven't really peeped them that closely yet.

one of the most slept on r&b/soul albums to drop in the post hip hop dominated music arena was 'vinyl room' by sleepy's theme - the same dudes thats down with outkast/goodie mob/dungeon family/organized noise. also the songs i heard from cody chestnutt a while ago were pretty tight; didnt cop the album though. is it worth it? anybody heard anything from him as of late?

The beautiful thing about R&B is that its history goes back so far, and there's so many classics to catch up on when you need to take a breather from rap radio...Isleys, Stevie, Gladys, Curtis. If you're a completist, you know you haven't heard *everything* they've done.

R&B are really nice. But as years pass by things change. Even music change and developed. But still its nice to hear R&B.
