Radio conglomerates found that if they restricted the play list, and played more of the same stuff over and over, the audience stuck with them more, at least according to Arbitron ratings.

It of course backfired, and now competing radio chains have broadened there playlist to have diversity.

Nothing is fucking with LA's K-day though.

Playlists are the devil! I'm a DJ, I like a song. I will play song. I am a DJ, I don't like song, I will not play song. How hard is it?

You know it gets a whole lot deeper then that guys. I am a radio DJ. I had a lot of ideas coming into the gate but once I got my foot in the door of "Radio" It wasn't at all like I thought. Playlists are fueled by what many in radio deny exists....PAYOLA. The major companies are paying for spins and doing "favors" for spins. I shouldn't have to tell you that "PAYOLA" is illegal but that does not stop it from going on. Plus radio being a major media machine can program people with playlists. You hear the same f$#k a b*&%h song at least a hundread times and when your babys momma pisses you off what is the first thing you think....F$#k a b*&%h...lol its funny because its sad. As a "Radio Jock" I would love to be able to play what I want. I enjoy concious music in my spare time and when I choose to spin at events I choose events with audiences that enjoy that type of music. I sneak as much as I can on the air but believe me the play is monitered to make sure that all of the key tracks are played.
