Hashim- Put that iPod Nano up on eBay. Get this instead.
Clyde- This will revolutionize music video distribution. You hear anything from the record labels about music video distribution deals?
This, my friends, is absolutely ridiculous with $1.99/show downloads without commercials. I'd imagine music videos to go for $0.99/pop. And they thought pirated music was bad- wait till all the kids start rocking videos on their way to school.
I don't care about the product as much as I do the social and economic implications it brings to the music and entertainment industries. That, and the inevitable rise in the New York crime rate that this will bring. Update: Eminem is a feature artist for the iPod video campaign. Didn't he sue Apple a while back for using his music w/o permission?
No doubt. I'm thinking about coppin' this. Battlestar Galactica to go. I'm hooked.

This sounds fresh. I think I'm gonna wait till Apple has ran out of Ipod ideas before making a purchase. Everytime I think about coppin' an Ipod/Ipod Photo, they come up with something more advanced.

Take hip-hop by storm? Hell, it'll take media and entertainment in general by storm! Actually, it's iTunes 6 and being able to purchase videos and tv shows that will do it. $1.99 for a commercial-free version of my favorite tv show I missed last night - or last week - or last month! Dude, that's the killer app, right there!
And yes, Em did sue Apple. Guess they figured out a way to end the friction.

Yeah, the big labels have all been making deals to get music videos on cell phones. So the timing of this is pretty good for Apple.
Pricing will be an issue, especially if you're eventually able to get a whole show of music videos for $1.99 vs a single video for .99. And pricing is where Apple and major labels are coming into conflict.
What will be cool is if you can buy uncensored videos. Right now none of the major carriers/mobile phone services will carry "adult" material, so that would be one possible edge especially important to the hip hop market.
Actually, this might be a good opening for adult material to go mobile but I doubt Apple will distribute outright porn, so hip hop vids with sex, guns, drugs, profanity, etc. will be the next best thing!
Eminem sued to retain control. He made a deal to make money. Certain things really aren't personal.

yeah, thats pretty cool. also, fraud companies will make a fortune with the "win a free video ipod" ad.

I'm pissed that I paid $299 for my 20gig ipod, but if I had only waited two more months, I could have gotten this 5th gen. So I'm with Rizoh, I'm not gonna upgrade to the new one until I see what else they have in store. I really think they need to improve on the navigation of the iPod.

Was it really a good idea to release the nano Ipod and then come out weeks later with the Video Ipod?! Surely some people are kicking themselves after making that first purchase. And i'm pretty sure that a good deal of people that buy the video or nano Ipods already had the originals. At least you can trade a car in when you want to upgrade. Clearly Apple understands the frivolous spending abilities of their consumer demographic.
FYI, the Ipod Video screen is so small and the battery life is abhorring when playing videos. I wonder how long it'll be until the Nano Video Ipod comes out. Next month maybe?!?!
