Juelz Santana- What The Game's Been Missing

I got some issues with The Carter Administration at Def Jam. Why isn't Jay-Z putting more support behind this album:

Juelzsantana

SOHH says this about Juelz Santana:

Despite a healthy buzz and strong showings with his own "There It Go"(Whistle Song) and a verse on Chris Brown's "Run It," The Diplomats' young gun free falls 61% and 14 positions to #23- selling 55,713 CDs.

And let's not forget the videos Juelz paid for himself, his several promotional mixtapes, and even the Dipset hotline.

So why isn't the boss giving this disc the same push as Young Jeezy's? Is it because of the cold war he's got going with Dipset's Cam'ron? If so, then that's bad business, man and I don't respect Jigga on this one.

I've heard the album and your boy's swagger and slang is ridiculous on it. It's such fun music to listen to- I'm sure with the right push the kids will love this album and make it platinum, or at least gold.

But, it will take the right push. Jay-Z needs to put aside the pettiness and make that money. I blame his influence for Cam's soft sales, and now he's doing the same to Juelz.

i think it is because:

- he is not orginally from the Roc
- he put out too many mixtapes that we nearly listened every single songs on this album

I'd say it's the other way around Hashim. I'd say it's Dip-Set's resistance to working with Jay. I think the problem is that the album's a bit plain. It's not as good as Jeezy's (honestly) and like J F said, it's so full of songs that have been on 100 mixtapes that it comes across poorly arranged and planned.

Jeezy had 'Boyz In Da Hood' too. Which was massive in promoting him. Essentially he had two labels pushing him at once. He couldn't really fail.

Juelz went with club bangers (as singles) for a winter album too. That's not too clever. It should come around as an album. But I feel like it was probably rushed.

What J.F. said.

And it definitley wasn't rushed, because it was supposed to come out during the summer, but the song mic check didn't stir up a buzz like they thought it would

Whenever interviewers ask Cam about Juelz staying with Def Jam, he makes a point to always mention that they work directly with L.A. Reid. They are choosing to skip out on the Jigga influence themselves.

Although, I have a feeling the Juelz wishes that he could get the Hov co-sign. He has to keep his loyalty to Cam and Jim, but he must feel like he is so close to breaking through and Jay might be the difference. That would be very frustrating (if he doesn't have problems with Jay, of course) for an ambitious young guy like he is.

I could see this leading to Juelz eventually reconsidering his situation with the Dips.

Let's be honest here: The Whistle Song is boring.

"And it definitley wasn't rushed, because it was supposed to come out during the summer, but the song mic check didn't stir up a buzz like they thought it would." In my guess this probably is the best explanation that Jay knew it was product that would not put move a huge amount of units and thus distanced himself from taking blame/responsibility.

I've heard a few joints off it and I diggin' the runnings. but truth be told I've heard alot of it off the mixtapes and am loathe to part wid cold cash. going to the shops tomorrow ...

If Hova is laying off this then indeed it is bad business. shouldn't be personal. will be his label loss if Juelz bounces.

It's not that tight duke... The Carter 2 is 10 times better than the album, and I definitley think that Juelz's 1st album was better than his latest+I'd already heard ten songs of the album before I copped it......

this album really showcases how much juelz has developed as an artist, and its a shame that its not selling the way it should. it definitely has platinum potential.

hey all i would just like to say that juelz santana is one of the best rappers out there. he's hot and he has flavor. post post post i love you juelz

Harlem,

I just listed to this entire album....you are right on with this post. There is an agenda.

This is a really solid album.

it seems like this album sold good during christmas shopping. now he needs a second push, there are good singles left and he can do gold easy.

juelz has done well this year, he is becoming a house-hold name. he should push a couple more singles and double back next year with a new alblum.

At the end of the day, Juelz is doing it on his own. That counts for something. Even without the heavy push from the Carter Administration, he & the Diplomats got the streets on lock. And the beauty of the mixtape business, he sees all of of the return because he is the one creating them. Now, that is pretty damn smart to me :-)
