Luda, Fiddy, and now Ice Cube have voiced their unfavorable opinions on TV's most powerful chick.
"For 'Barbershop,' she had Cedric the Entertainer and Eve on, but I wasn't invited," says the 36-year-old rapper, referring to his 2002 movie. "Maybe she's got a problem with hip-hop."
Cube adds: "She's had damn rapists, child molesters and lying authors on her show. And if I'm not a rags-to-riches story for her, who is?"
The man does have a point. So does Luda. Fiddy just likes to instigate beef when he feels like it.
After seeing that one episode with the cast of Crash and how she treated Luda, I truly believe that Oprah has beef with hip hop. But its not that huge of a deal, is it? Before the whole Crash thing, Oprah was completely outside the hip hop paradigm. Is it because she's black? Oprah, to me, as always been the demographic she's catered to: a middle-aged white woman.
yeah, you hit it. Because she's a Black woman people expect her to have some sort of affinity towards hiphop.
It's funny that Luda, Fiddy, and Cube would complain about the way she's treating them, since they've each said some pretty horrible things about Black woman and get prickly when someone challeneges about it

You guys are so ignorant. So what if Oprah doesn't have hip hop artists on her show? She *isn't* hip hop, for fucks sake. She doesn't need to represent it, she's far too sophisticated to have rappers who make their money talking about black women as bitches and hoes up on her show. She's all about empowering and showing the positive sides of black people and black culture-- and hip hop does NOT represent all of black culture. It doesn't represent Africa or those of us in the Caribbean, we have our own culture, thank you. She does tons of amazing work for blacks and non-blacks (Indians, Pakistani's, Afghani's, etc) all over the world-- hip hop doesn't do shit to empower. All y'all do is stand around and whine like a bunch of delinquents, expecting everything to be handed to you instead of EARNING it. Ice Cube raps about guns and bitches and wants Oprah's respect? Please. Educate yourselves, black people. Rise up above your ghetto mentality.
One.

i feel she should have rappers on her show. they are entertainers too. it does not matter if she is black. BUT SHE SHOULD SUPPORT HER OWN PEOPLE!!! white america supports their own. and like ice cube said if she can have rapists and child molesters, why have boundaries where rappers are concerned? she has that james frey who told a big, big, lie. more like a tale and totally made a fool out of her. you do not see white folks complaining about oprah do you?? ask yourself why??? believe me if oprah went off the air today not one white entertainer will suffer. she will be easily replaced with someone else. lets all face reality the business is run by white america. rappers do say bad things about women yes they do. that is totally wrong. but if that is the reason then she should not have any guest at all. we all say unfavorable things about each other.

Oprah Winfrey is the same woman who gave a white doctor a talk show rather than another person of color. So spare me with all the glories and amens for Oprah, other than her legends ball when was the last time she dedicated an ENTIRE show to an issue that deals with people of color. I'm not talking about a SEGMENT an ENTIRE show, I saw the show about butts and jeans and she actually had white woman as the main guests. Talk about ridiculous. I swear Paul Mooney was right when he said Oprah tricked white people and they gave her a billion dollars. Where is Michael Air Jordan at as well?
DO THE PEOPLE YOU SPEND YOUR MONEY WITH LOOK LIKE YOU?
Just remeber TO WHOM YOU GIVE YOUR MONEY IS TO WHOM YOU GIVE YOUR POWER!

oprahs a loser...thats why shes taking shots at rappers...they have different personalties when they are on stage---they are tryhing to entertain....even though they degrade women---and men for that matter---and promote violence and drugs---this stems from back when black people really were persecuted----as for the degrading of women it was always part of the music...but its not aimed at any particular woman....all these women are ficitional..whether they are white or black or asian....fictional comments to fictional women---the only thing that is real is the races...oprahs a moron...she invites people to her show---and then uses her show to attempt to humiliate people for her own amusement and self fulfillment--what a loser...
so its her show..eventuallly people will make songs about her...and then that overweight cow will wish she could lash out at someone....what a fat loser....

Waa waa waa. Y'all like to complain about a lot of shit your hypocritical selves do nothing about. What do these black rappers do for the black community? Oprah's has done and WILL do more than they ever will. They wear their bling, totally oblivious to the history and irony of it... they are ILLITERATE. They're an embarrassment. If she wants to promote articulate, sound and positive blacks on her show instead of a bunch of "yo, yo, my nigga, I love my niggas and hate bitches" characters on her show, then all the more power to her. Just goes to show that not all blacks are walking around, actng like a bunch of monkeys. As for having rapists on the show, if you've ever WATCHED Oprah, you'd know that 9 out of 10 times these shows dedicated to rapists are about their asses being caught. So what if she gave Dr Phil his own show? He's under HER production company and he's making HER money, money she turns around and helps out OTHERS with. He brings in ratings-- look at all the other black shows out ther: Montel with his white wife, who cheated on her with another white woman, Tyra... they all suck. Everyone's tryna be the next Oprah, so why aren't they succeeding? She had James Frey on her show BEFORE the scandal broke, when the book was already a national best seller-- she later brought him back to face the music on her show in which she tore him a new asshole. Ice Cube has nothing of relevance to say: so he was in NWA, he was in a gang, he cheats on his wife, etc. Heard it all before. Oprah's about uplifting the face of black America, and for those of you who can't see it that way, your slave mentality will forever hold you in these shackles. Rise above your ignorance, people. Whining about why white people never give you handouts isn't impressing anyone.

truth hurts...you're a racist, piece of trash truth hurts : "Just goes to show that not all blacks are walking around, actng like a bunch of monkeys."
go have fat sex with oprah loser...oh ya learn to spell....moron.
Posted by: thirdeye | 2006.06.02 at 12:46 PM
yo...you guys needs to chill...its supposed to be a discussion...but that comment about not all blacks being monkeys....that some serious racial discrimination....Why would you say that?
Posted by: johnC | 2006.06.02 at 12:48 PM
Boo hoo.
Half the time that's how these black rappers act. The rest of the world sees it, clear as day.. looks like you all in the commercial "hip hop community" need to open your eyes.
I wouldn't call myself a 'racist', seeing as how I'm Afro-Caribbean with STRONG pride and culture. Black American hip hop culture is just so lost. Period. They cannot appreiciate anything positive (i.e. Oprah), but they boast and brag about gun-toting hoodlums instead? Thank you for continuously going out of your way to give all blacks a bad name.

As a Black American, I say it is time we stop trying to blame race for our problems. How many of our children are dying in the streets? How many of our chilren think the local crack dealer, or the NBA, is their ticket to a beter life? It is Oprah's show, she is free to do whatever she wishes. And if she chooses to put down music with a negative image, perhaps we ought to listen to her, and use her as a role model instead of some semi-remofmed gang member who thinks rap equals power.
Posted by: Joe Banks | 2006.06.22 at 01:07 PM
I agree with JoeBanks. The Black culture is leaderless, and self destructing. Go to colllege and earn a million dollars, don't rob people for chump change! How many Black scientists can you name? They have accomplished far more than Shaq and Kobe ever will, but do we hold them up as role models? We need to return to stable, working class families, and our kids need to know we care about them. If you allow your kids to run the streets after dark, if you don't knowwhere they arem or who they hang with, then you're part of the problem, and have only yourself to blame.
Posted by: Roger Wilco | 2006.06.22 at 01:14 PM
You guys are small minded....so what, just because we cheer for shaq, and other black athletes that means we have no role models? Is a role model not someone you look up too? Like Denzel Washington, great actor he conveys messages about society through many of his films, just like all actors do whether they try to or not. Music too, right so they aren't role models either, guys like Krs one--and run dmc, tupaq, a very intelligent rapper, who just happened to be to eccentric for his time, and his own good. So only is there was a black scientist, or archaeologist, or politician, or prime minister or councilman, or leader of a country, then you would be able to say yes, black people are doing something positive? You make me sick all of you. You should be proud, black people excel greatly in sports, one of the most dominant ethnicities, and look at how they are JUDGED, by their own people, as not offering or contributing to society....Who are you to judge, to choose OPRAH's tv show, and condemn other accomplishments from black people? SO you respect her tv show, but not those, who have worked tirelessly, through whatever neighbourhood they grew up in, stayed or escaped from violence, and balanced college classes, with college sports, and actually moved on to compete in a league that is opening up to all cultures around the world?
God dammit, you guys are F***in morons...I swear there are always a few idiots who put in their 2 cents and want to be deep and philisophical, by putting down their own race because they are successful, but not "contributing to society" Have you ever heard of nba cares, an organization of players and the association, that give money, attend events and try to support and give to others who may not have the same opportunities as the rest of us..when's the last time any of you f***in idiots did something like that...
If you ask me the problem isn't that black americans are not contributing to society, it is that other black and non-black americans are be littling the black athlete's success, either becuase they can't achieve it and they wish they could..
You 2 might not be jealous of them, but to put an athlete down for being an athlete? F***in idiots, straight losers, you guys need to get a life and stop posting, because you're insignificant and so are your comments.
F*** you

I don't understand why u people are so mad at truth hurts. Shes the only one whos making any sense, dont be mad because our people as a race are embarssing ignorant and thank god for people like OPRAH. Who showed the world that black people can do more than play sports like children and actually use their own capabilities to do something in life.

lmao@bosh. clever ;)
Thank you Aaliyah, for hearing where I'm coming from. I can't possibly be upset with cyanide as she is small minded and child-like in her ways. Her comments are evidence enough.
Not everybody is going to see as we do on the matter, but so long as *we* know that there is more to be appreciated and enlightened in the black community than just sports and rap music, then hopefully others will follow suit and be aware as well :)
