Predictions Update: Killer Mike Beefs With Big Boi?

In my notes I have a prediction about Killer Mike getting into beef with Big Boi over the delay of his solo album, and the tanking of Purple's Ribbon's disc, but somehow that paragraph didn't make it into my published predictions for 2006 hip-hop. Oh, well. I'm taking credit for this prediction anyway.

SOHH reports:

"While Killer Mike is still commercially tied to Purple Ribbon, throughout his conversation with SOHH it was clear that his association with Outkast and The Dungeon Family has not been all roses.

"I don't want to be another nameless face in the Dungeon Family," Killer Mike told SOHH exclusively. "I've seen too many come out and get fucked over for whatever reason, like tumbleweeds in the wind. I didn't come up with them, I'm privileged to be associated with them, but I got tired of walking around Atlanta like a sucker. I'm gonna get my due respect too.I'm not saying I'm leaving Purple Ribbon. It's a business arrangement, this isn't about emotional reasoning, this is about business. It takes too much energy to destroy a business relationship."

If you've been following hip-hop long enough, you know this statement by Mike is the seed of a public beef.

Personally, I hope he can strike out on his own and keep ties with Big Boi. Mike is crazy talented, even if he's an overrated underrated emcee.

It's basic Killer Mike, make some booty music & you will be out. Try to make something intelligent & with some soul; and your lane is closed. Follow your white counter part, "Bubba" and degrade the black female, encourage young women to post shots of there ass to a website. And your album will be out next month.

wassup this statement that i made has far less to do with Purple Ribbon and the Dungeon Fam (respect due Ric, Pat and Ray) and more to do with where i am in my personal development. we as ordinary people fear doing extraordinary things bcuz where we r is safe. fuck saftey i wanna live to the fullest all i ever wanted to be was a Emcee. not a endorser of products or a 'im not a rapper rapper or worse yet a rapper or singer acting like a fucking actor. all i ever wanted to be was an emcee: like Cube and KRS and G Rapp and ScarFace and the god Rakim and Ren and Cee Lo and Bun and 8 Ball and Big L (RIP) and the Hood (RIP) so i cannot allow any one or anything to interurpt my path. i was born to rap thats what i want to do. i wanna be a part of HIP HOP not only as an rapper but as an emcee. so if that means i leave fine i leave but thats not what i wish or want to happen i only wanna give voice to the voiceless and rock the stage bcuz thats what the men on my list did 4 me.
