Earn Money On Your Blog

Elise writes a tutorial on making money with your weblog. Unfortunately she doesn't mention the #1 rule- "don't be evil"

Trying to earn cash with your blog is fine. But I myself have been tempted to get carried away and start plastering every page of my site with Google ads right under my banner. Truth is, most sites won't make any type of significant money. Actually, Hip Hop Blogs is a money loser for me right now. My goal is to have the place pay for itself, and that's it. Anything else is gravy.

Other Group Hip-Hop Blogs

Let me not gas ourselves up. Our site is not the first or only hip-hop group blog out there. There's Verbalisms and the Live Journal hip-hop community site. I like both for different reasons.

Technically Verbalisms considers itself a magazine though one of their writers calls herself a blogger. It probably smart that they go under the more familiar banner of magazine since "blog" is such a confusing word to even those who do it.

The Live Journal jump off seems like a message board and that's smart too. Web users are more comfortable with that type of interface than ours. Originally I wanted to make this site mimic the look of a forum but it was one of the few things Colleen couldn't figure out despite Mark's instructions.
